Bridging the Healthcare Gap Across the Hill Country
For nearly three decades, Raphael Community Free Clinic has stood as a beacon of hope and healing for thousands of hardworking individuals who fall through the cracks of our healthcare system.
- Providing essential primary health care, mental health screenings, and chronic disease management to approximately 80 patients every single week.
- Providing a vital healthcare safety net across Bandera, Edwards, Gillespie, Kendall, Kerr, Kimble, and Real counties.
- Operating completely on the generosity of local donors, foundation grants, and the incredible dedication of our volunteer medical professionals.
We are honored to be recognized as one of the five original clinics that founded the Texas Association of Charitable Clinics. Those five clinics are:
- Raphael Community Free Clinic (Kerrville – Sister Marge and Sister Mary Ann)
- Greater Killeen Community Clinic Clinic (Killeen – Marlene DiLillo)
- Ubi Caritas (Beaumont – Clark Moore)

Founders Sister Marge and Sister Mary Ann
Our clinic owes its existence to the profound vision and tireless dedication of our founders, Sister Marge Novak and Sister Mary Ann Giardina.
In 1995, Sister Marge, a Franciscan Sister and Family Nurse Practitioner, arrived in Kerrville with a dream to establish a medical mission specifically for uninsured and low-income individuals who could not afford vital medical care. Together with co-founder Sister Mary Ann, they brought this vision to life, opening the clinic doors in August 1997 inside a local school gymnasium.
From operating just one evening a week to building our permanent medical home on Water Street, their legacy of deep compassion, faith-driven healing, and community partnership remains the guiding heartbeat of everything we do today.

Providing Compassionate Care For Our Community
Our dedicated medical team provides personalized care to diagnose and help you control chronic illnesses, minimize complications, and maintain a high quality of life. Through routine monitoring, free medications, and hands-on guidance, we work to protect your long-term health.
Diabetes Care & Monitoring
We provide free monitors and strips to measure blood sugar levels, free A1C testing, and personalized guidance to help you manage diabetes safely.
Hypertension & Blood Pressure Support
Our medical team tracks your blood pressure and creates effective lifestyle plans to protect your heart health.
Chronic Disease Management
We offer early screenings and risk assessments to detect other chronic diseases such as asthma, COPD and hepatitis. We then work with our patients to manage and slow down long term effects of their illness.
Access To Free Medication
We assist our patient's application to receive free medication from participating pharmaceutical companies.
