To qualify for primary care at Raphael Community Free Clinic, patients must be an adult (18 years of age or older) and meet three basic requirements:
Have no health insurance.
Must live in one of our seven served Texas Hill Country counties (Bandera, Edwards, Gillespie, Kendall, Kerr, Kimble or Real County).
Must have written verification of income or financial eligibility at under 3X the US poverty level, based on the size of the household.
Once eligibility is confirmed, an appointment with a provider can be scheduled, as we are not a walk-in clinic.
The RCFC Patient Assistance Program (PAP) helps eligible patients secure free medications for chronic conditions directly from manufacturers, with support for application, renewal, and refill processes.
The dedicated PAP office can assist patients with the application process. Approvals can take from 2 to 6 weeks. The pharmaceutical companies each have unique programs for this process.
The Rafael Community Free Clinic has a dispensary, managed by nurses, that manages the receipt and dispensing of drugs sent by pharmaceutical companies to RDFC patients for their use. A few of the participating companies send medications directly to the patients’ homes. Our dispensary is not a pharmacy.
Drugs received by our dispensary are stored appropriately to protect them from contamination, deterioration, and destruction. Staff bottle and label items for pick up by our patients during regular clinic hours. The Dispensary also manages a limited formulary of medications commonly used in a Primary Care practice. No controlled medications or narcotics are kept on the premises, and no narcotics are prescribed by our clinic providers.
